Putah Creek Café, Winters, CA
This restaurant is famous/ popular because it has been featured on the television show "Diners, Drive ins, and Dives" Guy Fierri ordered the Cioppino. Apparently all food is locally grown and made from scratch.
Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of this meal even though I tried something completely new. I had the Confit Con Duck, which is duck. DUCK! I felt horrible ordering duck but i told myself I had to try it at least once in my life. It came with mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, mushroom, and other vegetables. My friend told me it tasted like chicken but my argument was: why order something that tastes like chicken when you can just have chicken? So i had to try it. It was a bit salty for my taste, more greasy then chicken and more tender, similar to turkey.
After the meal, I was having a bit of a sweet tooth so I ordered carrot cake. I love carrot cake. A friend ordered pumpkin pie "a la mode". When I heard "a la mode" i was thinking "a la cart". When the pumpkin pie came out it had ice cream on top. My response: "Why does it have ice cream?"
I had no idea "a la mode" ment with ice cream on top. I googled the meaning to be sure and sure enough people "a la mode" means ice cream on top or on the side. Now i want everything "a la mode"!
I'm thinking some hot chocolate a la mode would be amazing. You heard it here first!
I spent $27.30, not including tax. Over all I rate my experience: A-
